What is Prepress?
Prepress or pre-flighting is the first step in the production process of your project. Once we receive your digital artwork, our prepress team will review the artwork to ensure it meets our production requirements. This includes reviewing the format, resolution, ink set ups (CMYK or PMS) and additional layout elements such as bleeds, crop marks and margins.
Once the artwork is print ready, our prepress team will create proofs. We create PDF proofs and press proofs for each project. You can review and approve whichever proofs you prefer; however, we do require approval before we start printing. Once approved, the project will be put into production. Offset projects will be plated before printing and digital projects will be sent directly to our HP Indigo 7900 Press to begin printing.

Project files can be uploaded through our FTP site or by email with an attachment (depending on file size). If there is another way that you prefer to submit your files, such as DropBox, Google Drive or WeTransfer, please let your sales executive know.
PDF Files (prepared correctly with crops and bleeds) or Creative Cloud Files (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
We prefer vector format files which include PDF, EPS, AI and SVG. These file formats are easy to resize and manipulate if needed. If this is not possible, we can also work with raster images, such as JPG, GIF and PNG.
For all projects we send PDF proofs for review and approval. Additionally, we can provide hard copy press proofs for review before we print.
For offset projects, we will print both high- and low-resolution proofs. The high-resolution proofs are printed on our Epson P6000 printer and are calibrated for exact color matching to our press. The low-resolution proofs are only for positioning and proofreading.
For digital projects, we print proofs on the exact stock that the final project will print on, so you can see your final piece.
Yes, we offer simple design and typesetting services. If you need a more detailed design, we can refer you to a few different graphic designers to create the artwork.
Generally, a project can take 1-2 days to be pre-flighted.
Prepress only checks the artwork to ensure it is print ready – it does not check grammar or spelling. We recommend that editing and final proofreading is completed before submitting your artwork files.
Since every job is custom, having an expert prepress team is essential. Our prepress professionals have over 25 years of experience and understand the important steps to setting up each project to print at the highest quality.
